Older toilets can use anywhere from 13 to 20 litres each time it is flushed. Now with better engineering and trap glazing, toilets only require 6 litres or less to flush. Recognizing this The City of Calgary has created the Home Owner's Toilet Replacement Program. The purpose of the program is to encourage home owners to change their existing water guzzlers to low consumption by offering a $50.00 refund for each toilet replaced in your home.

    So changing your toilets to low consumption won't only save you 54 – 70% on your water usage bill for them, you will also receive $50.00 for each one changed.
